QuickBooks Error 6000

Errors can occur in any software and you can face some at times in QuickBooks too. One error that users may face while opening a company file is the QuickBooks Error Code -6000. Users would be unable to proceed with their work without resolving this issue. Here is a guide on how you can fix this issue.

Causes of Error – 6000

Some probable causes of the error – 6000 are as below:

  • QuickBooks has not been installed properly
  • There is a security system or a firewall present on your system that is blocking the internet connection and interrupting QuickBooks
  • The company file is corrupted
  • The network connection of your system has not been configured correctly
  • QuickBooks file is corrupted

Resolving the QuickBooks Error – 6000

The resolution to the QuickBooks error 6000 will be different for two different situations. We have a list of solutions for the error – 6000 segregated under these two situations. Read the instructions below carefully to understand which situation you are in and then proceed with the solution.

Situation 1: You are trying to open the company file over the network

If you are trying to access a company file that has been saved on a different system other than the host system and are prompted with the error – 6000, then here are some possible fixes for it.

Solution 1. Rename the .TLG and .ND files and rescan or restart the database server manager

The .TLG and .ND has configured QuickBooks files that let it access a company file when it is in multi-user or network mode. If these files are corrupted then you will be prompted with the error – 6000. These files need to be renamed. When you rename these files, it will recreate once you rescan and when you open the company file, with the help of QuickBooks data server management tool. Here is what you need to do:

  • Open the folder that has the company file
  • Look for files that have the same name as your company file but with extensions.TLG and .ND. They will look like this – company_file.qbw.nd,company_file.qbw.tlg
  • Right-click on these files one at a time
  • For both, the files click on Rename and simply add the word OLD at the end of each file

Once this is done, you need to restart the DBSM and rescan QuickBooks files. Follow the below steps:

  • Click on Start
  • Go to All Programs
  • Next, click on QuickBooks icon and go to QuickBooks Database Server Manager
  • Click on Scan Folder
  • Next, highlight the folder with data and then click on Check
  • Ensure that the company files are present in the box that says QuickBooks Company Files Located
  • Now try and open the company files

Next restart QuickBooks and login to company files to see if the problem is solved.

QuickBooks Pro, Premier & Enterprise

Solution 2. Open the QuickBooks company file locally

If the error is in the location file, then this solution will help. The file can either be corrupted or its location is interfering with the system path. Here is what you can do:

  • Go to the folder that has the QuickBooks company file stored
  • Look for the .QBW extension file
  • Right-click on the file and copy it or just select the file and press Ctrl + C to copy the file
  • Go to the desktop and paste this file here either by clicking right and using the paste option or by using the Ctrl + V keys
  • You need to open QuickBooks by holding the Ctrl key, this will guide you to No Company Open home window
  • When you are here, you need to click on the Open or restore an existing file company and locate the QuickBooks company file that you earlier copied on the desktop

Now open this file to see if you can access the company file. If the problem persists, you can move to a different solution.

Solution 3: Check if hosting is activated on any other computer other than the host machine

The hosting mode in QuickBooks lets a host computer control the access of the QuickBooks company files. The QuickBooks Hosting Mode must be turned ON only on the host machine to permit other computers to have access to the QuickBooks company files. All the other computers other than the host computer that want access to the company files must keep this mode turned OFF.

  • Press the F2 key to open the Item Info window
  • Look for the Local Web Server check if the hosting is ON the feature should be off for other computers connected to the host server including yours

Solution 4: Try switching to UNC path as an alternative to a mapped device

  • Open QuickBooks and then press Ctrl key to Run as Administrator
  • Keep holding the Ctrl key till you get the No Company Open Window
  • Click on File and from the options that you get to click on Open or Restore Company
  • This will open a new window where you need to select Open a Company File and then proceed by clicking Next
  • Now click on Network tab and go to where your company file is located
  • Open the company file to see if you can access it now
  • For those who cannot find the location where the company file is saved check the Set Folders Permission – look for the company file and then open

Solution 5: Shut Down All Running Tasks

To shut down all tasks related to QuickBooks you must be logged in as the Administrator

  • Press the Ctrl + Alt + Delete or Del keys together on the keyboard to open Task Manager
  • Go to User tab to look for all the active processes
  • Click to highlight all the active processes and then click on End Task

Now you must switch to multi-user and then try and open the company file to see if this solution has worked for you.

Solution 6: Open a sample file to check if QuickBooks Software has been installed properly

  • If QuickBooks is not installed properly then you will not be able to access the company files. You can check this by opening a sample file:
  • Go to No Company Open and then click on Sample File tab and open the Sample File list

If the sample file is opening, then the QuickBooks software is fine, then the software is running fine and you will have to try a different solution. However, if the sample file doesn’t open, then QuickBooks software hasn’t been installed right and you will have to rectify this by installing it properly.

Solution 7: Check the Firewall or Antivirus installed in your system

The anti-virus or firewall installed in your system might block the connection to QuickBooks files. You can try and configure your firewall or the anti-virus installed on your system, so it lets QuickBooks establish a connection with your system.

Situation II: You are Opening the File Locally

If you are trying to open the company file on a system on which the QuickBooks software has been originally been installed and are confronted with the error – 6000 then here are some possible solutions to it:

Solution 1: Restore from Backup

If the problem lies in the company file, then restoring it from a backup may fix the issue. If users face an issue while trying to get a backup here is what you need to do:

Stop multi-hosting users option

  • Go to Company file
  • In the File menu from the options that you get in the drop-down select Utilities
  • This will give you more options and you need to locate Stop Hosting Multi-User Access and click on it
  • This will open Stop Hosting Multi-User Access in a new window – you need to click Yes on it
  • Close the company file window too

The path to the company file should be less than 210 characters

  • Go to company file and copy the path by clicking on the address bar
  • Paste it on a notepad to determine the characters – you need to count the spaces too
  • If it is required to be changed and make the necessary changes

Once you have rectified these errors, try to restore the company file once again.

Solution 2: Rename the .TLG and .ND files

The .TLG and .ND files are important parts of the QuickBooks company file and are also referred to as setup files. Users are able to access company files in multi-user mode or in a network because of these two data files. If either of the files is corrupted you may be unable to open the company files. Renaming it will help in getting access to company file:

  • Go to the folder where QuickBooks file is saved
  • Look for the files with the extension .TLG and .ND. They will look like this company_file.qbw.tlg and company_file.qbw.nd
  • Right-click on the files and rename them. Just add the word OLD at the end of the files
  • Now exit and open the QuickBooks software and the company file once again

On the other hand, if you are a confident Windows user, then you can follow these solutions, which are known to have helped many users. These are tested solutions that can resolve QuickBooks Error 59.

Let us first look at the Possible Causes of the ErrorQuickBooks Error 59

  • If the error tool place at the time of installing updates, then it is possible that the download would not have completed properly or the downloaded file may be damaged.
  • It is also possible that your system’s third-party applications like the anti-spyware and anti-malware software may be hindering the installation.
  • Some Windows files may be damaged which may be causing the installation to fail
  • An Intuit program would be in use when your computer shuts down and would have damaged the files which were in use.

Steps to Repair QuickBooks Error 59

Solution 1 – Restart QuickBooks

An easy way to solve the problem if it appears for a QuickBooks program that is already installed on the computer is to restart the program. Close the program and open it again to check if the error reappears. In some cases, minor file errors are handled when the program is restarted.

Solution 2 -Delete and recreate .nd file if you are on a network

The Network Descriptor file stores information about the hosting computer. This file may have been damaged or corrupted which can cause the error.

  • From the hosting computer, press the Windows key and search for QuickBooks Database Server Manager.
  • Choose the QuickBooks Database Server Manager app from the search results.
  • Your company files may automatically be populated on the app. But if you do not see the company files, then click on ‘Add Folder’.
  • Choose all the folders with company files
  • Once you have successfully added the folders, click on ‘Scan’. This will allow the files to be found on workstations when you try to access the company files from a workstation computer connected to the network.
  • When the scan is completed, the company files will show up under the section that says, ‘QuickBooks company files found’. Click on ‘Close’
  • To verify that the files have been successfully scanned, visit the folder with the company file. Check for a file with ‘.band’ extension created in the folder. If you have more than one company files then check all folders with the respective company files for the ‘.band’ file.

If you are on a network and the hosting computer does not have QuickBooks Database Server Manager then you will have to uninstall QuickBooks and reinstall it. At the time of reinstallation, you must choose the option that says, ‘I’ll be using QuickBooks on this computer, and I’ll be storing our company file here so it can be shared over our network’.

Solution 3 – Make sure multi-user access is off if you are on a network

This step should be carried out from the workstation computer and not the hosting computer. The aim is to stop using a workstation computer to host multi-user access.

  •  Open QuickBooks and click on ‘File’
  • Select ‘Utilities’ from the file menu
  • Now check if you see the option ‘Stop hosting multi-user access’. Click on it to disable hosting multi-user access from the workstation computer.
  • On the other hand, if you see ‘Host multi-user access’ then do not make any changes and do not click on it, or else the workstation computer will start hosting multi-user access.

If you have disabled multi-user access then open QuickBooks and access your company file to check if the problem has been resolved.

Solution 4 – Open the Company file using the UNC path if you are on a network

QuickBooks advises users to connect to a network using wired connections. Sometimes, problems arising with QuickBooks can be solved by opening the company file using the Uniform Naming Convention (UNC) Path.

  • From the workstation computer, Open QuickBooks
  • Click on ‘File’
  • Choose the option ‘Open or Restore Company’ from the file menu
  • Click on ‘Open a Company File’ and then click ‘Next’
  • When the company window opens, look for ‘My Network Places’ on the left pane of the window.
  • Double click on the entire network and then navigate to the location on your server which stores the company file.
  • Once the location has been selected, click on ‘Open’

Solution 5 – Run the QuickBooks Fix My Program tool from QuickBooks Tool Hub

The QuickBooks Tool Hub has a lot of tools that have been designed to fix known problems and errors. You must install the QuickBooks Tool Hub to access all the tools in it. Users find the tool hub to be extremely helpful since it can automate a lot of troubleshooting and easily solve problems that may otherwise require time and effort.

  • Close all QuickBooks programs
  • Download QuickBooks Tool Hub. Make sure the file is downloaded to an easily accessible location like your desktop or the downloads folder. Once the file has been downloaded, double click on it to begin the installation.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts and complete the installation. When the installation completes, you will see an icon for QuickBooks Tool Hub on your desktop. Double click on the icon to open the tool hub. If you do not see the icon the click on the Windows icon and type in ‘QuickBooks Tool Hub’ in the search bar. Click on the tool hub app from the search results.
  • On the left panel of the tool hub, fin ‘Program Problems’ and click on it.
  • Then click on ‘Quick Fix My Program’
  • All the tools to run a check on the program files to identify problems and correct them.

Once the scan is complete, open QuickBooks and check if the problem has been fixed.

Solution 6 – Run the QuickBooks File Doctor from the QuickBooks Tool Hub

If the problem persists then you can use the QuickBooks File Doctor tool which is also a part of the QuickBooks Tool Hub to run a deeper troubleshooting and scanning of files. This tool will check all third party files which may be interacting with QuickBooks and could possibly cause a problem. It also fixes problems in the company file.

  • Close all QuickBooks Programs, and open the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  • Click on ‘Company File Issues’ from the left panel  Click on the button saying ‘QuickBooks File Doctor’
  • Once the scan is complete you may either see that the file doctor found no problems or I may ask you to resolve problems with the company file by following any of these steps:
  • Repair the company file following the steps outlined by the tool
  • Restore a newly backed up company file and manually update the file with latest transactions
  • Use the QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery tool to recover lost data
  • Send the file to the QuickBooks Data Recovery teamYou will then have to contact the data recovery team and check for the cost of data recovery by QuickBooks professionals.

If you get the option to repair or restore the file, then follow the prompts and complete the repair or restore. Then open your QuickBooks file and check if the problem has been resolved.

Solution 7 – Uninstall and install QuickBooks File

If you continue to see QuickBooks Error 59 on a standalone computer then other causes of the problem may be that you do not have adequate permissions to access the file, or the QuickBooks file may be corrupted. You may have to uninstall and install your QuickBooks file again after backing up your company file.

It may require you to have advanced knowledge of using Microsoft Windows and troubleshooting problems. If you are not a confident user, then it is ideal to avoid going further with troubleshooting and getting professional help to solve the problem. Permission issues may require you to give the right permissions to different folders which have QuickBooks stored in them.

Alternatively, reinstallation will require you to completely remove old QuickBooks files from your computer before you begin to install it all over again. This is known as a clean install. Our team of QuickBooks experts will help you solve the problem by guiding you step by step.

QuickBooks Error 15203

Users who get QuickBooks Error 15203 would be working on a Windows operating system with a hexadecimal partition. This error is related to problems with the partition rather than problems with your QuickBooks file. The hexadecimal partition is a type of partition used by computer programmers on Windows operating systems. Since QuickBooks error 15203 usually refers to problems with the operating system, the solutions are also focused on the same. Find out how you come across the error code in QuickBooks and its solutions in detail below.

Causes of QuickBooks Error 15203

Users who ended up with this error on their screen were able to identify one or more of the following as a possible cause for the error:

  1. The problem could be caused by incomplete software installation or hardware drivers that may have been corrupted or deleted. It is also possible that a recently installed software program may have gone rogue, causing problems for other software programs on the computer. Many users who have problems with virus or malware may face this problem as well because the virus may corrupt files on installed software programs as well as the operating system.
  1. Your computer may have insufficient RAM, which can cause the operating system to become unstable and cause errors. RAM or Random-Access Memory is crucial for your operating system to function properly.
  1. It is also possible that your computer may have insufficient disk space. If you are installing QuickBooks, then you may end up seeing errors, or if you have QuickBooks installed and are trying to save the company file then you may see errors because there isn’t enough space on your computer for the files to be saved. Inadequate disk space can also cause the OS to become unstable and cause errors or slow down.
  1. Users who have installed memory management programs may end up with memory mismanagement if the software program does not function properly. Alternatively, the problem may also occur if you do not have a memory management program, but your system memory has corrupted.
  1. Your QuickBooks software program may have corrupt or damaged files, which may lead to this problem. These damaged files may make it impossible for the program to access other QuickBooks related files necessary for the program to function smoothly.

In most cases, the problem lies with your Windows OS and the memory space on your computer. This is the reason why it is important to check the amount of memory used up and the amount of free space available on your computer.

By carrying out these steps, you will be able to identify if the problem really lies with the memory or not.

Follow these steps to find out your system’s RAM availability:

  • Type ‘Control Panel’ in the search bar located on the taskbar
  • Click on ‘Control Panel’ on the search results, and it will open a new window showing the control panel.
  • From the top right, choose the ‘View by’ option as ‘category’
  • Click on ‘System and Security’
  • On the next page, look for ‘System’ and click on it. This will show you your system information, which will include details about the RAM. It will tell you how much RAM is available on your system and how much is usable. If the amount of usable RAM is very low as compared to the total RAM for your system, then this is the source of the error.

Solving RAM problems will require a Microsoft Windows expert to work with you. It could be caused by rogue programs, viruses, or malware on your system, or it may be the case of extensive software programs being installed on your system and used at the same time.

On the other hand, if the RAM does not seem to be a problem for error 15203 in QuickBooks, then we must check the disk space and ensure that you have adequate disk space on your computer to run QuickBooks smoothly.

You can check the total amount of space on your Windows computer by following these steps:

  • Type ‘Settings’ in the search bar on your taskbar
  • Click on the ‘Settings’ app
  • Go to ‘Storage’ from the left side menu

You will see details of your system’s disk space and how much space has been used up. This can help you figure out if your system hard drive already has very little space, which may make it difficult to process information quickly and accurately for your software program. There are several ways in which disk space can be cleared up. Microsoft offers details through its knowledge base, or you can talk to a Microsoft representative for help in freeing up some disk space on your computer.

Alternatively, if you have enough disk space, then we can be sure that your computer’s disk space is not causing any problems.

Keeping these in mind, let us look at the solutions for QuickBooks Error 15203:

QuickBooks error 15203

Solution 1 – Restart your computer

Most memory-related problems on a computer can be solved by simply restarting your computer. Close all open programs on your computer and restart the computer. Once the computer restarts, trying using QuickBooks to check if the problem has been solved.

Solution 2 – Uninstall Any memory management problem from your computer

If you use a memory management program, then uninstall the program and check if the problem has been resolved. To uninstall any programs, you can follow these steps:

  • Type ‘Control Panel’ in the search bar
  • Click on Control Panel and then click on ‘Uninstall a program’ under the Programs section. Alternatively, you may find this under ‘Programs and features’
  • Look for the memory management program you use and click on Uninstall
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the uninstallation

Once the program is uninstalled, check if QuickBooks gets back to working properly.

Solution 3 – Install QuickBooks Tool Hub and fix QuickBooks Error 15203

Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub to solve common problems that you may face with the QuickBooks program. The tool hub has a lot of tools that can be used to fix problems with the Company file, the entire program, or to solve installation issues related to QuickBooks. Once the file is downloaded, you will have to install it on your computer by double-clicking on the downloaded file. After the installation is complete, the QuickBooks Tool Hub icon will be present on your desktop.

In some cases, based on your computer settings, the icon may not show up on your desktop. In this case, when the installation is complete, you must search for ‘QuickBooks Tool Hub’ in the search bar on the taskbar. Double click on the icon to open the tool hub.

  • The tool hub will present a number of options on the left side. Click on ‘Program Problems’
  • This will bring you to a screen that will show you different options for fixing any problems with your program.
  • The first option is to click on the ‘Quick Fix my Program’ button. This tool will scan your QuickBooks program and try to repair damaged files. It could take about a minute to complete the process. Once the tool is run and finished the repair, open QuickBooks and check if the error has been resolved.
  • If the error persists, then click on the ‘QuickBooks Program Diagnostics Tool’. This is a tool that will conduct an in-depth analysis of your QuickBooks programs and files. It will try to check if there are problems with the file, and then it will repair any damages that it comes across. The estimated time for completing the diagnostics is 20 minutes. Once the scan is complete and the repair is done, you can close the QuickBooks Tool Hub and check if the error has been resolved.

The tool hub can also be used to fix installation problems for your QuickBooks if the error occurred during the installation of your QuickBooks software program. To fix installation problems, you must go to the Installation Issues tab and select the ‘QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool’.

Solution 4: Restore your system to the last known good configuration to get rid of QuickBooks error 15203

This is a procedure that will involve a high-level understanding of the computer because a system restores causes some of the files to be deleted. Follow this solution only if you are sure of how to carry out a system restore and are an advanced Windows user.

  • Type Control Panel on the system search bar
  • Click on the ‘Control Panel’ app.
  • Click on the ‘View by’ options and choose small/large apps
  • Then select ‘Backup and Restore’
  • On the next screen, you will find an option that says ‘Restore my files’
  • Click on it and choose the backup from which you would like to restore your files.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the restoration of your system to the last backup chosen by you.

This will delete any files that may have been created since the last backup. You will permanently lose these files. If you have important files that you cannot lose, then it is ideal not to carry out a system restore and instead speak to a QuickBooks professional for help.

You can call on +1.650.265.1773 and talk to the team of QuickBooks experts to solve problems like the QuickBooks Error 15203.

QuickBooks Error 12157

QuickBooks Error 12157 is a software error caused when you may be updating the software program. It is a part of the 12000 series error. Once the error occurs, the update will fail, and you may not be able to access your QuickBooks account till the error is resolved. You may lose time that could otherwise be used to complete your accounting work.

The error may, however, be useful in bringing to your attention a problem with certain damaged files on your computer, poor internet settings or incorrect system settings.

Web connectivity is considered to be the major cause of QuickBooks Error 12157. This problem occurs in Windows OS with Microsoft Win32Internet which is also known as the WinInet API. This API is responsible for providing swift access to protocols like HTTP, FTP, and Gopher.

When the API does not function properly for some reason, you end up seeing this error during an update.

Some of the reasons why the API may not function properly, and you may see QuickBooks  error 12157 are:

quickbooks error 12157

  1. Incorrect system date and time
  2. The problem may arise from firewall or internet settings
  3. You may have more than one version of QuickBooks on your system

The following solutions have helped several users get rid of Error 12157 in QuickBooks and get back to working on their QuickBooks software. Make sure that your internet connection is working properly without errors.

If you have a problem with the internet, then wait until the internet works properly before you start troubleshooting the error.

Steps to fix QuickBooks Error 12157

Solution 1 – Check the system date and time

To set the date and time on your Windows computer, you can click directly on the time displayed on the bottom right of the screen. Alternatively, Windows 10 users can click on ‘Start’ and go to ‘Settings’. Then click on ‘Time and Language’ and choose ‘Date and Time’ from the options.

Your time and time zone can be set automatically by Windows OS. If the date and time are not set to automatic, then toggle the button next to them to ensure that they can be set automatically. Open QuickBooks and check if the update completes successfully.

Solution 2 – Restore Advances Settings in Internet Explorer

Users who have Internet Explorer set up as their default browser should reset the browser settings to default so that the update can complete without problems. It is possible that you may have customized the browser settings in ways that may have restricted the update process.

  • Close QuickBooks and open Internet Explorer
  • Click on the Settings icon (looks like a cog) on the top right of the screen
  • From the dropdown menu, click on Internet Options
  • This will open a small window with several tabs on the top. Click on the ‘Advanced’ tab.
  • Click on ‘Restore Advanced Settings’
  • Click on ‘Apply’ then click on ‘OK’ to close the window
  • Close Internet Explorer and open QuickBooks. Allow the update to complete and check if the error has been resolved.

Solution 3 – Firewall/Third-Party Application Configuration

If your firewall is configured in a way that will restrict QuickBooks from completing the update, then you may see the QuickBooks Error 12157. To resolve this problem, you must use QuickBooks File Doctor which is a part of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. It will automatically configure the firewall ports for you.

  • Close QuickBooks
  • Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub if it is not already installed on your system. Make sure it is downloaded to a folder or a location that you can easily access. Typically, downloads are stored on the Downloads folder or the Desktop.
  • Double click on the downloaded file to install the tool hub. Once the installation is complete, open the tool hub by double-clicking on the icon on your desktop.
  • Click on the tab which says ‘Company File issues’. Run the QuickBooks file doctor. It may take a few minutes for the file doctor to fix any problems with the firewall ports. Once the ports are configured, reopen QuickBooks and complete the update process. Check if the error persists.

If the automatic configuration of ports is not successful, then you may have to manually configure the ports to allow the updates to go through & Check if Error 12157 still shows up.

  • Click on Start and type Windows Firewall in the search box.
  • Open Windows Firewall from the results and click on Advanced Settings
  • Right-click on ‘Inbound Rules’ then click on ‘New Rule’
  • Then choose ‘Port’ and click on ‘Next’
  • On the window that comes up next, make sure that the radio button next to ‘TCP’ is selected. Then you will be required to enter the specific ports which need access according to your QuickBooks version.

QuickBooks Desktop 2017 – 8019, 56727, 55373-55377

QuickBooks Desktop 2018 – 8019, 56728, 55378-55382

QuickBooks Desktop versions 2019 onwards, dynamic ports are used. The port format for these versions is 8019, xxxxx.xxxxx. In order to find out the actual port number, you must go to the Start menu and search for the QuickBooks Database Server Manager. Click on the Database Server Manager from the results and go to the tab, which says, ‘Port Monitor’.

Look for your QuickBooks version and make a note of the port number assigned to it. This is the port number to be used in the ‘Specific local ports’ section of the Windows Firewall.

  • Once you enter the port number, click on ‘Next’
  • Choose ‘Allow the Connection’ and click on ‘Next’
  • This will create a rule. Enter a name for the new rule like ‘QBPorts’
  • Click on ‘Finish’

Next, you will be required to add a list of files to your Firewall exceptions. These include:

Executable files

Location

AutoBackupExe.exe

C:\Program Files\Intuit\QUICKBOOKS YEAR

Dbmlsync.exe

C:\Program Files\Intuit\QUICKBOOKS YEAR

DBManagerExe.exe

C:\Program Files\Intuit\QUICKBOOKS YEAR

FileManagement.exe

C:\Program Files\Intuit\QUICKBOOKS YEAR

FileMovementExe.exe

C:\Program Files\Intuit\QUICKBOOKS YEAR

QuickBooksMessaging.exe

C:\Program Files\Intuit\QUICKBOOKS YEAR

QBW32.exe

C:\Program Files\Intuit\QUICKBOOKS YEAR

QBDBMgrN.exe

C:\Program Files\Intuit\QUICKBOOKS YEAR

QBGDSPlugin.exe

C:\Program Files\Intuit\QUICKBOOKS YEAR

QBUpdate.exe

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\QBUpdate

IntuitSyncManager.exe

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\Sync

OnlineBackup.exe

C:\Program Files\QuickBooks Online Backup

  • Follow the same steps as mentioned earlier to reach the point where you click on ‘New Rule’
  • Then select ‘Program’ and click on ‘Next’
  • Choose the option that says ‘This program path’ then click on ‘Browse’
  • Use the above chart as a reference to find the files one by one. Click on ‘Next’
  • Choose ‘Allow the Connection’ and click on ‘Next’
  • If you see a prompt then make sure that all profiles are marked and click on ‘Next’
  • Name the firewall exception you created and click on Finish.

Follow the same steps to create outbound rules as well. The only change is instead of Inbound Rule you will be choosing the option that says ‘Outbound Rule’.

Once the ports and files have been added on Windows Firewall, try completing the update on QuickBooks to check if the problem has been solved. The settings mentioned above are for Windows Firewall only. If you have an antivirus program on your computer and the firewall settings of your antivirus program are causing a problem then you may have to allow the same exceptions on your antivirus firewall as well.

The steps will differ based on the antivirus you use. You can refer to a manual or talk to a representative in the antivirus company for steps to create firewall exceptions. The same files in the chart above must be added to the exceptions.

Solution 4: Restore your Windows Computer to the last known good configuration

Note: This step will remove all data and files which would have been created on your Windows computer since the last backup. A system restore is possible only if you regularly create a backup of your computer’s files.

If there are no recent backups, then this will not be possible. Skip this step if you do not have a recent backup available.

  • Type ‘Control Panel’ in the search box on your taskbar
  • Click on Control panel from the results and type ‘Recovery’ in the Control Panel search box
  • Click on ‘Recovery’ from the results and select ‘Open System Restore’
  • The System Restore Files and Settings box will open. Click on ‘Next’
  • Choose the restore point from the list of restore points available. Then click on ‘Scan for affected programs’
  • You will see a list of items that will be deleted if you proceeded with the system restore. Go through the list and if you are okay with the items being deleted then click on ‘Close’.
  • Select ‘Next’ and click on ‘Finish’.

After the restoration is complete, check if the problem has been solved.

How to Install QuickBooks Desktop 2020 in 5 easy steps

It is requisite to download or install the QuickBooks desktop into your laptop/P.C or a tablet to keep up with the growth of the technology. One of the essential pieces of information that the user should know is the primary method for downloading and installing the QuickBooks is minimum system requirements.

If you’re setting up for the first time

Set up and install a multi-user network for QuickBooks Desktop

Install QuickBooks desktop

Set up and install a multi-user network before you continue for QuickBooks desktop so computers on your network can access your company files, and you can easily share your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows data with multiple team members.

On a multi-user network, only one computer hosts your company files, that’s your server computer and all other computers connected to your system that don’t host your company files are called work stations.

Install QuickBooks Database Server Manager

Install QuickBooks Database Server Manager on your server computer so you can host your company files. It lets you share your company files with other computers over your network. It also helps you monitor your multi-user network effectively.

Note: If you’re a QuickBooks user or bookkeeper, who is running multiple versions of QuickBooks Desktop for your business, then you have to install them in order. Start with the oldest version first and end with the most recent.

Once you have QuickBooks desktop download files in hand, follow these five easy steps to install it. This article would be helpful either you’re reinstalling or installing QuickBooks for the first time.

HERE WE GO….

STEP 1

PREPARE FOR THE INSTALLATION

  • You have to make sure your computer meets the system requirements.
  • Download your version of QuickBooks Desktop. Save the file somewhere you can effortlessly find it (like your Windows desktop, or you can create a new folder and save it there).
  • Double click on the saved file (it’s called Setup_QuickBooks.exe).and you will notice that Windows displays a little message box that tells you Welcome to QuickBooks Desktop.

STEP 2

Once QuickBooks desktop installation wizard begins, QuickBooks will prompt whether you agree to go by its rules or not. Accept the QuickBooks licensing agreement and then click Next. Follow the onscreen instructions, and you have to admit to installing the software — select the checkbox labeled I Accept the Terms of the License Agreement and then click Next.

STEP 3

Enter your product number, and license number, then click Next. If you have lost your license or product number, we can help you recover them. At QBDESK, we provide you with 24/7 services to support you and your small business needs, so don’t panic, we got your back.

Step 4

  • Now you have to choose the kind of QuickBooks version for your business needs; you have two options for installing QuickBooks: express or Custom and Network, specify whether you’ll share the Quickbooks data file over a network.
  • We recommend Express if you’re using it for the first time and reinstalling QuickBooks. It is beneficial if you are going to use it on this computer and not as a part of other network computers.
  • On the other hand, if you want to install QuickBooks somewhere other than the default location or have to host company files on a server, then you should go with Custom and Network.

STEP 5

As you open QuickBooks, the program prompts you to activate and update it, you can also activate it by simply opening QuickBooks and from the Help Menu select Activate QuickBooks Desktop. Follow the instructions onscreen, and you are ready to go.
